  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Make the shortbread crust by combining flour, powdered sugar, and cubed butter in a bowl; mix until crumbly. Press into the bottom of the prepared dish.
  3. In a bowl, toss sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Spread evenly over the crust.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix oats with a little flour and brown sugar, then sprinkle over the apples for a crunchy topping.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden and bubbling. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
