- 4 large potatoes, sliced
- 2 cups caramelized onions
- 1 cup shredded Gruyere or Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375F (190C).
- Layer sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
- Spoon caramelized onions over potatoes.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese and Parmesan over the layered ingredients.
- Dot with butter, season with thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Notes
For a crispier top, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes. Using smoked cheese enhances flavor. Ideal for make-ahead and reheating.
