Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- Red and green sprinkles for topping
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Activate yeast by combining warm milk, a teaspoon of sugar, and yeast. Let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add eggs, melted butter, and activated yeast mixture.
- Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down dough and shape into a wreath on a greased baking sheet.
- Decorate with sprinkles on top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar and garnish with holly leaves if desired.
Notes
- Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to activate yeast effectively.
- You can add dried fruits or nuts for extra flavor.
- For a shiny finish, brush with a beaten egg before baking.
