- 6 cups Chex cereal
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- Sea salt flakes for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar, corn syrup, and stir until smooth. Bring to a boil and cook for 4-5 minutes without stirring.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- Pour caramel over Chex cereal in a large bowl and gently toss to coat evenly.
- Spread the coated cereal onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let cool completely. Melt chocolate chips and drizzle over the cooled cereal.
- Sprinkle with chopped nuts and sea salt flakes. Allow to set before breaking into clusters.
Notes
- You can substitute nuts with dried fruits for a different twist.
- Ensure to stir during baking for an evenly coated snack.
