Ingredients

  • 6 cups Chex cereal
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Sea salt flakes for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar, corn syrup, and stir until smooth. Bring to a boil and cook for 4-5 minutes without stirring.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  4. Pour caramel over Chex cereal in a large bowl and gently toss to coat evenly.
  5. Spread the coated cereal onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool completely. Melt chocolate chips and drizzle over the cooled cereal.
  7. Sprinkle with chopped nuts and sea salt flakes. Allow to set before breaking into clusters.
